Once upon a time, an unfortunate wise man lost his tea kettle. It simply stopped making tea one day, brewing instead some form of Very Berry Fruit Punch.
The wise man hated Very Berry Fruit Punch.
Luckily, he was able to procure a new tea tea kettle quickly enough, bought from the shifty fellow who hung out behind the knitting supplies store.
He brought it home, set it to boil, and was extremely frustrated to find that nothing happened. Quite angry, he threw the kettle against the wall.
And then something amazing happened.

A beautiful crown of flowers… Oh, I’ve always dreamed of owning one! Since I’ve never been able to find a great one that I could afford, not even in an old attic, on the Internet, or anything, I decided it was time to make one myself. I think this may be a first on this blog… Do it yourself fashion! I’m hoping this change of pace might inspire those of you who also pine for a crown of flowers to take matters into your own hands as well!

In the wake of her father’s death, Ash is left alone to pay off his debts in the service of her own step mother. Consumed with grief, her only joy comes by the light of the dying hearth fire, re-reading the fairy tales her mother once told her. In her dreams, someday the fairies will steal her away, as they are said to do. When she meets the dark and dangerous fairy Sidhean, she begins to believe that her wish may be granted. The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King’s Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash’s capacity for love—and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love. Entrancing and romantic, Ash is an empowering retelling of Cinderella about the connection between life and love, and solitude and death, where transformation can come from even the deepest grief.
You know, I was going to start fuckyeahlesbians, but then I realized that’s what this blog is for. Look for Malinda Lo’s first novel this fall.

Through the years, many people have come forward with supposed proof that fairies exist. Leading skeptics have dismissed it all, because seriously, come on, fairies?
Well, I have some news for you. You can now blast away those skeptic jerks by showing them 100% positive proof that the world of the Fae exists - with this tiny pendant. Inside the glass sits one tiny fairy turd, metallic green and gold and sparkly; it even has eternally staring eyes and little curly antennae. I’ll bet you didn’t know that even a fairy’s poop is magic, did you? Well, now you do! Oh, the stories this little thing could tell.
We don’t know whether fairy poo will bring you luck, but at the very least, it will be a real attention-getter!

Sometimes I get a little nostalgic of the fairytale lesbian era I immersed myself in when I was 20, 21, and 22. I surrounded myself in films like, Tipping the Velvet, Heavily Creatures, But I’m A Cheerleader, and lesbian pulp novels like Beebo Brinker and Spring Fire.

I had just started college and was introduced to drag and androgynism. I teased with the concept a bit; even felt that I had to subscribe to a butch exterior in order to be passable and acceptable within the queer community. As much as I loved the occasional dress-up in a suit and tie or the feel of masculinity within my little 5’1” feminine frame, it was not me.

I grew up taking ballet, playing the piano, playing with dolls, with bunnies, drawing women in beautiful gowns and wearing make-up. I loved all of those things, but I hated that fact that there was not a single sub set queer community or club that shared the same interest: Ultra Femme Lesbians with Ultra Femme Sensibilities. Furthermore, the ultra femme who was into other ultra femmes and not the stereotypical butch/fem dynamic.

I often admired the drag king cliques and social events in the Bay Area. So many dykes and FTMs came out of hiding to come together and celebrate a part of their queer selves. But where in the world are those few lesbians who are into Tea Parties with discussions of philosophy, poetry, and the Romantic Friendships of the Victorian Era?

I dealt with the situation like any artistic lesbian who felt alone – I created it myself. It started off with drawing or painting the images I wanted to see, but could not find anywhere else. Then I started re-writing stories from my childhood and fitting them in such a way I could relate to. Then, with luck I found a small group of wonderful women who were just as fem-silly as me. We were a grand total of 4, one of which was my then girlfriend.

I love this post (and photo) so much I can barely speak of it. <3

Serene little protectress with calm, watchful eyes. This power animal is a symbol of grace and gentleness.Like so many other things, this vintage flocked fawn came to me mysteriously. Nestled among her bed of leavesand silvery tulle, she is without scrape or injure. So precious.
